Overview of the research

Research Area Focus	Tropical mangrove carbon stocks assessment. This study evaluates the climate mitigation potential of mangrove ecosystems by quantifying their carbon stock. Using the standardized Kauffman and Donato (2012) protocol and van Wagner, C. E. (1968), the research systematically measures wood debris to provide robust data on total carbon stocks.

Project Information	The Sustainable Wetlands Adaptation and Mitigation Program (SWAMP) Restoring Coastal Landscape for Adaptation Integrated Mitigation (ReCLAIM)
Project Description	The Sustainable Wetlands Adaptation and Mitigation Program (SWAMP) is a collaborative effort by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the USDA Forest Service (USFS) and Oregon State University with support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The SWAMP project is a collaborative initiative that provides critical scientific data on the immense carbon storage potential of tropical mangroves and peatlands to inform global climate strategies. By partnering with international researchers and governments, it empowers countries to integrate these high-priority wetlands into national policies for emission reduction and community resilience. The ReCLAIM project focuses on restoring blue carbon ecosystems along Java’s north coast to balance climate mitigation with the enhanced resilience of local communities. It strategically aligns Indonesia’s international climate commitments with local action to improve environmental integrity, food security, and regional governance.
