Abstract:

This dataset provides spatio-temporal replicate measurements supporting the study by Hergoualc'h et al. (2025), Conversion of Degraded Forest to Oil Palm Plantation in the Peruvian Amazon: Shifts in Soil and Ecosystem-Level Greenhouse Gas Fluxes (Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, XX-XX). The data were collected in Ucayali, Peru, to assess the spatial and temporal variability of total soil respiration, as well as soil N₂O and CH₄ fluxes, alongside key environmental parameters across degraded forest and oil palm plantation plots. The supporting information consists of two databases: (1) DB N₂O, CH₄ & CO₂ – Includes intensive measurements collected over 29 days in May 2019 and monthly measurements from February to December 2019 at each soil collar and chamber. (2) DB Litterfall – Contains monthly data from litterfall traps in the forest and frond pile decomposition in the oil palm plantation. This dataset provides valuable insights into the impact of land-use change on greenhouse gas fluxes and ecosystem processes in the Peruvian Amazon.
